Our Called to Care ministry does a service or outreach project almost every month, on the third Sunday of the month, following worship. These projects provide opportunities for intergenerational fun and fellowship, while creating or collecting gifts and necessities for various social service organizations in our community. Here’s a list of what we’ve done so far! (Projects with an asterisk received funding from a Thrivent member grant.)

2025 Outreach Projects

  • January: Valentines for Seniors for Geauga library
  • February: Painting Party
  • March: Beer & Hymns
  • April: Little Annie’s Hope Train bag lunches and hygiene kits
  • May: Toys for Geauga County Dog Shelter
  • June: No-sew blankets; “sponsor a family” for the Geauga County Job & Family Services Program
  • July: Clean-up day at Celebration
  • August: Pet toys for our October Pet Blessing & Care Fair
  • September: God’s Work Our Hands – Cards for Hospitalized Kids
  • October: No-sew blankets; “sponsor a family” for the Geauga County Job & Family Services
  • November: Adopt families for Thanksgiving (food and supplies); supplies for Little Annie’s Hope Train
  • December: paint ornaments for our GCJFS adopted Christmas family

2024 Outreach Projects

  • January: no-sew blankets for Forbes House in Painsville. Also wish-list items.*
  • February: made suet feeders for members to take home; also made Alleluia Banners for church*
  • March: made Resurrection gardens for Project Hope for the Homeless
  • April: decorated brown bags for those receiving home delivered meals from the Geauga Dept. on Aging
  • May: painted Blessing rocks for distribution in the community
  • July: made Pet toys for our Pet Blessing and Care Fair (October)
  • August: joined with Project Kindness to make uplifting, motivational locker posters for their students
  • September: made cards for hospitalized children
  • October: collected food for Veterans Food Pantry. Wrote cards to attach to winter scarves to Veterans Food Pantry and Faith Mission
  • November: collected food for our adopted Thanksgiving family; made popsicle stick nativity ornaments for Maplewood at Chardon; provided kits for members to make Advent wreaths to take home
  • December: Paint ornaments for our adopted Christmas family

  • June: made streamers for Pentecost
  • July: assembled lunches for firefighters at Chardon and Munson fire stations*
  • September: held a bake sale called Celebration Creations to raise money for Called to Care projects
  • October: church clean-up day!
  • November: decorate the sanctuary for Christmas and Advent, and collected foot for our adopted Thanksgiving family
  • December: painted ornaments for adopted Christmas family; wrote Christmas cards for those receiving home-delivered meals for Geauga County Dept. on Aging
